INSTRUCTIONS FOR SEARCHING FOR A RESOURCE/ORGANIZATION
Please read these instructions in their entirety before searching for a resource/organization

Use:
Please read the User Agreement before accessing this website. COMPASS does not endorse or promote any of the organizations listed in its database, nor does it guarantee the accuracy of information. However, COMPASS does review each posting before it is added to the database, and encourages organizations to keep their information up-to-date. You may search by as many fields simultaneously as you like, but keep in mind this may limit your search.
|
Organization Name:
Organizations have been asked to both list themselves by their acronym and their full name. You should be able to search for either. When doing this, please select the "partial matches are okay" button.
|
Category:
Organizations are asked to select all the categories in which they provide services. Select one to refine your search.
|
Keyword:
A keyword search will search every field in every listing for the keyword. Please note that putting in a broad keyword such as "services" will turn up a large number of organizations. The keyword search is best used to refine a larger search, or if you cannot find what you are looking for using one of the other fields.
|
Disability:
If you would like to search by disability/special need, please refer to our list below. This is how we have asked organizations to code their disabilities, and using the exact categories below will ensure accuracy in your search.
|
City:
Organizations have been asked to list the city of their primary/corporate office in this field. If you are looking for a branch of a larger organization in a certain city, it may be more helpful to type the city in the keyword field.
|
Zip Code:
Organizations have been asked to only list their 5 digit zip code, so your search will be most accurate if you also use a 5 digit zip code. Remember, this zip code is for their primary/corporate office.
|
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Posting a Comment:
Once on an organization's page, you can post a comment about their services. Please be appropriate in any criticism or endorsement of an organization. The spirit of these comments is to help other parents in their search for services. Writing that a service is "horrible" will not help guide or direct other parents. If you do have criticism, please be specific and constructive. COMPASS reserves the right to remove comments without explanation. If you wish to remain anonymous in your comment, please just type "Anonymous" in the "Your Name" field.
|
Information Update:
While COMPASS encourages organizations to update their information, often it is you, the user, who finds out when information is out of date. Please help us and the other parents using this database to keep it up-to-date, by informing us when you find incorrect or outdated information. Simply use the "Information Update" text box to describe what information is out of date and, if you have the accurate information, provide us with that as well.
