The COMPASS Family Center is a San Diego non-profit organization that provides family-centered supports for those caring for a child or adult with special needs.  COMPASS focuses on S.T.A.R.:
About the term "special needs":
COMPASS defines special needs broadly to encompass any challenge an individual may have in which they need increased assistance.  This can include conditions such as developmental and physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, learning differences and mental health needs. This includes diagnoses like autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, bipolar disorder and ADHD.

The services provided by COMPASS are offered to family members to complement services that children and adults already receive through community programs and private practitioners.  We also assist in providing training opportunities to parents and professionals.

From a parent: “Oh my gosh. If they can't help, they'll send you somewhere that can help. If they don't have the answers they'll find someone with the answers. I think the whole experience was helpful, I know it's still an ongoing process, but at least it was stress relieving.”
